Progressive solutions in greener optimization of public lighting in

The Municipality of Lezhë is Partner/Lead Partner in the ProLIGHTmed project, entitled “Progressive solutions in greener optimization of public lighting in EURO-MED area”.

The project, funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme 2021-2027, under the “Greener MED” programme priority, is dedicated to advancing the adaptation to climate change by optimizing and facilitating energy efficiency solutions for public lighting in the EURO-MED area, in order to foster greener living spaces.

ProLIGHTmed is led by the Municipality of Tuzi (Montenegro) and involves 7 partners from different countries:
– Energy and Environment Agency of Arràbida (Portugal)
– Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities (Bulgaria)
– Municipality of Lezhë (Albania)
– Peyia Municipality (Cyprus)
– City of Kaštela (Croatia)
– National Energy Technological Cluster (Italy)
– Renewable and Sustainable Energy Lab – Technical University of Crete (Greece)

Furthermore, the project includes other 7 associated organizations:
– Utility Company Tuzi LTD (Montenegro)
– The Environmental Protection Fund (Eco-fund) (Montenegro)
– City of Setúbal (Portugal)
– Cooperative Bank of Karditsa L.L.C (Greece)

The project emphasizes a comprehensive approach that integrates technical, socio-economic, and environmental aspects into the planning and execution of local energy strategies, in the perspective of contributing to reduce CO2 emissions in public lighting across the Euro-MED region. Therefore, the expected results of the project are:
• Enhanced energy efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions in public lighting, thanks to a jointly developed strategy and implementation tools;
• A methodology for financing these optimizations, which includes engagement with the banking sector and establishing subsidy schemes for public lighting investments;
• The scaling of solutions based on tested activities and the implementation of a knowledge transfer campaign aimed at optimizing public lighting across the region.

The ProLIGHTmed project activities began on January 1, 2024, and will end on September 30, 2026, for a total project duration of 33 months.

Project budget: 2.949.785,00 € (Interreg Funds: 2.359.828,00 €)
